In this article I am going to cover a very important topic that could potentially drive higher conversions on a product review, that is by turning the features that you are writing about into a list of benefits. You will learn, by example, how to do that in this article.
So many reviews that I read forget to mention any kind of benefit of a certain feature. Do not make that mistake! A customer will very often purchase a product because of one benefit listed. Think of how many times you have purchased a product because you really like that one benefit. If they had missed it off then you may not have decided to make the purchase.
A benefit is a great selling point, so how do you list the benefits of a feature? Let us look at an example, the screen resolution of a smartphone is a very important feature of that phone and many people buy based on High Definition viewing, but what is the benefit of having HD viewing?
I can think of three benefits:
1. Better experience when viewing movies and videos.
2. Your gaming experience will be enhanced with crystal clear graphics.
3. The photos you take will have crystal clarity.
2. Your gaming experience will be enhanced with crystal clear graphics.
3. The photos you take will have crystal clarity.
The overall benefit of HD resolution on your smartphone is an "enhanced viewing experience."
What you need to do:
List all the benefits that you can think of associated with a certain feature, if you get stuck you can use Google to help you out by typing into the search bar "What are the benefits of having HD resolution on Galaxy S6", just change the last part to something that is relevant to your product. Have a read through the results that are shown and make plenty of notes.
After you have listed the benefits of the feature, think of an overall benefit to sum up the other benefits listed. Just like the example I gave you above the overall benefit is an enhanced viewing experience. An easy way to do this is look down the list of benefits you have written and see if there are any common components that share the same overall benefit, for instance from above the common component was a viewing experience which is enhanced with HD resolution.
Remember that benefits often help the reader to make an informed buying decision, so do make that list because it could be the difference between making the sale or not.
