I live in an RV full-time and I have been doing so, for 7 years now. I go north in the summer months and I go south in the winter. I follow the 70 degree weather.
5 winters ago, I decided that I would like to research online businesses. I'm not financially set so I do have to work. With an online business I wouldn't be tied down to any one place. I could spend 2 weeks here, and 2 weeks down the road. An income from an online business would be awesome!
So... the journey began. I probably fell for every 'guru' program out there. I would spend time trying to get things going on a program I liked. Then, I would receive those emails promoting the next 'latest and greatest' program. My inbox was full and it was easy to spend a full day just clicking and reading. Oh, that one looks good. I like that one! In short, I wasn't focused. Many $97 programs and all the fancy tools later, I quit. I had a funky website that I created but it was a mess. It took months before my inbox was back to normal.
This winter I decided to give it another try. I was determined to stay focused. Fortunately, I knew enough to stay away from the 'guru' type programs. There is no 'get rich quick' program. They all take time and effort. Regardless of what program you choose, having realistic expectations is a must. It's not going to happen overnight.
I opted to go with affiliate marketing as it makes sense to me. I found a program that was focused on blogging. It did manage to get my website, with all the necessary bells and whistles, up and running. For me, this one thing, was huge. We had a model site that had affiliate programs and we were encouraged to join those and get our own affiliate links. Heck, 2 of those affiliate programs declined me when I applied (their loss) SO... I deleted the product and went in search of others. I'm slowing revamping the site and adding programs that I truly believe in. It's all a process and I have to be patient and do what I know and need to do.
Yesterday, in search of more affiliate programs, I stumbled on different possibilities of an online income. I had considered these same programs 5 years ago. While I do think these programs are very viable for me to pursue in the future, I know now that I need to focus on what I'm doing and give it some time. I found myself getting off track when I considered doing one of these programs. I had to discipline myself and get back to the tasks in front of me. There are a million ways to get sidetracked. For every query on programs and ways to advertise, there are a million options AND... a million different opinions.
I'll have to get a job this year. Hopefully, next year, I won't have to.
I encourage you to find a program or product that you are truly passionate about. Devote your time to that one particular program ONLY if you want to see results. Do your research, have a plan, have realistic expectations, and above all... FOCUS!
