In this article I am going to discuss the right way to create urgency for any offer you create. When you are offering digital products you need to be careful how you do this.
Here are some ideas on how to create a sense of urgency for purchase your product.
Time Limited Offer
You can put a time limit for how long you will be selling a particular product. This works well if you have a particular discount available and you only enable it for the first seven days for example. However many people do this type of discount online and never change it back to the original price after the time period.
Make sure that you are different and your subscribers learn that when you say there is a time-limited offer you actually mean it. Otherwise you will never create the sense of urgency that you want to.
Quantity Limited Offer
You've got to be very careful with quantity limited offers when producing digital information products. Everyone knows that digital information is freely available - it's just a download away - it's not like a physical product.
For example, if 100 physical items are sold and there are no more on the shelf then obviously there is a limited quantity that can be sold.
With a digital product it is always available! So be very careful when you use quantity limitations.
The best way to use them is to limit the number of people who can purchase your product.
For example, you could offer the first 20 people a special discount and then afterwards your price goes up to the normal price.
Alternatively, if you have produced some cutting edge training you could limit the number of people who can purchase it to 100 and after 100 have been sold it's no longer available. A reason why you might do this is if you want to prevent the market from getting saturated.
If you suggest that you will run out of copies for a digital product then you will lose any credibility that you have built up.
Close Offer At Any Time
Another way to create a sense of urgency is to suggest that your particular offer could be removed at any time. Unfortunately this is also being misused by many marketers who never close the offer.
If you are going to use this to create a sense of urgency then I would suggest that you have a particular timeframe in mind where you will go in and change the offer. You might offer the same product but it at different price or you may repackage it in a different way and in that case the original offer would be removed.
